I've been a fan of the Band since the '70s, and have loved Levon's last two records. And I've heard a million versions of The Weight, including the original, the Last Waltz version with the Staples, Danko's solo version, other performances by Levon's band over the last two years -- but this was the first one that made me cry. Don't know why. Maybe it's Levon's elder status, or maybe I'm just getting more sentimental as I get older

@apemanstreetwalker << I know what you mean, man. I'd much prefer more guitar (miss that opening lick) and less horns. Stick to the original arrangement on this one. Regardless, gotta love Levon

I am going to see Levon this Friday..I am sooo excited!!! The first time I saw him perform this song was in 1972. I saw The Band 4 times between '72 and '76 and that was the last time I saw Levon. It has been a few years since I have seen him live; but I have NEVER quit listening to his music. I am honestly so happy about this Mothers Day gift that I have been crying every time I listen to him sing. My eyes sure are going to be swollen by Friday if I don't quit!!!
