It wasn't that long ago when acne (Zits) was considered a curse for the many individuals that suffer from this problem; although it undoubtedly causes distress, a number of topical remedies are available. A great deal of money is being spent researching the condition; the result of this effort is a growing range of effective treatments. Despite the number of acne skin care products currently available on the market, they are broadly categorized into three distinctly separate groups:
Prescription: Issued for specialized medication from a doctor etc.
The preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to prevent acne from arising like skin cleansers and makeup removers. This is a market where many people use this type of product every day to condition their skin. They use these products to protect their skin from the environment even if they do not have the acne condition.
Other acne skin care products like skin cleansers are more specific about their job, they ensure the facial pores (and other areas) remain free of oil. These products prevent the oil from getting trapped in pores and can hamper the growth of bacteria, this can lead to the bad skin condition.
This type of skin care treatment also includes those which exfoliate such as skin peels. These can be bought over the counter or on the internet. Dead skin cells and other atmospheric pollutants are removed cleaning the pores which reduce the chance of any bacterial growth.
There is a huge market for these types of acne skin care products as they don't require a consultation with a dermatologist. A bacterium that helps in the formulation of acne is stopped by creams and cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These ingredients are used to remove the additional oil in the skins pores.
Although benzoyl peroxide works well, it is possible you may have a reaction, it is suggested that any benzoyl peroxide skin care product should not contain the active ingredient at more than 5.5 percent. Because we all have different types of skin, more than one type of acne skin care product may need to be tried. This is quite normal, however, if it is proving to be a problem then consult with your doctor, or skin care specialist.
Products that your dermatologist or doctor will recommend will only be available on prescription, they may include a course of antibiotics or topical ointments. Your doctor can recommend that in order to extract the contents of the pustules that a small surgical procedure could be carried out. Some specialists recommend the sufferer never tries doing this on their own as it can cause permanent skin damage.
Your doctor could prescribe a hormone-based treatment to treat your skin problem. Hormonal changes are known to cause acne and such skin care treatments are sometimes known to be effective. The end result is dealing with this skin complaint is not the problem it once was, there are now a huge range of products specifically formulated for the task. This means that a sufferer does not have to put up with this condition anymore.
